Community Rules

Know the rules before you ride in. They keep the Crossing fair and fun for everyone. Search a topic, browse the sections, or share a link to any rule.

Community & Conduct

Basic Terms of Service

All aspects of rules, policies, rule enforcement, and disciplinary enforcement may be adjusted at staff discretion via staff procedures. Failure to follow the intent of rules and policies may result in the same disciplinary action as failure to follow rules to the letter.

Personal insults and/or verbal attacks outside of specific roleplay situations and all forms of harassment are prohibited and will result in a ban.

Racism, Homophobia, Transphobia, Sexism, hate speech, and all forms of targeted derogatory or abusive language will not be tolerated and will result in a permanent ban. WildRP is set in an alternate universe from real life. In this universe, these forms of oppression have never existed and should never be RP'd under any circumstances. This includes things such as any violence based on gender, race, etc. as well as domestic abuse.

Additionally, in this universe, slavery does not exist and the events of the American Civil War did not occur. Thus any type of roleplay involving slavery is prohibited, and many historical world events would have occurred differently or not at all.

For more information, click here: WildRP Lore

Roleplay, text/voice chat, and general behavior that violates Twitch Terms of Service (ToS) or Twitch Community Guidelines or Discord Terms of Service is prohibited and will result in a ban.

Basic Community Policies

We are an English-speaking server. Communication in character is expected to be conducted primarily with verbal English. Non-verbal or another method of primary communication must receive staff approval before being created.

You must be at least 18 years old to apply for allowlisting and participate in the community.

You must have a high-quality microphone and a recording environment free of extraneous background noise. Headset, Fifine, Blue Snowball, Blue Ice, and Tonor microphones will automatically be denied upon application. Failure to produce or maintain good audio quality on the server will result in a temporary ban until any issues with audio fidelity have been resolved.

We require all community members to utilize the WildRP Discord for communication and role management. Failure to maintain membership in the Discord server will result in community and allowlist removal.

Should disagreements or instances of rule-breaking arise in-game all members should attempt to roleplay through them without breaking character. Once the scenario is completed, members may then send in reports to staff. If the issue is urgent and must be dealt with immediately, you may reach out to the WildRP Support bot on Discord. OOC arguments will not be tolerated.

If staff deems your overall quality of roleplay subpar or inconsistent for the server, you may be placed under evaluation by staff. If your in-character conduct is deemed detrimental to the overall quality of roleplay, you may be subject to disciplinary action.

All weapons are lethal. This means that all weapon interactions (shooting, stabbing, throwing etc.) have consequences and must be handled in-character as if they are real. Practice or faux fighting with weapons is not allowed. Theatrical fighting is restricted to stage/performance areas and requires staff approval.

The utilization of glitches, exploits, hacks, third-party crosshairs/aim pips, or bugs for personal gain will result in disciplinary action. There is a zero tolerance for hacking, including but not limited to script/resource injection, and will result in a permanent ban. If you find a glitch or in-game exploit please notify the staff via the Bug Report feature on our website.

Erotic roleplay of any kind is not tolerated and will result in a permanent ban. Forced relationship roleplay/potential rape and anything remotely close to it will also result in a permanent ban.

Suicide roleplay or self-harm roleplay of any kind is not tolerated and will result in a permanent ban.

WildRP is a serious roleplay environment and all roleplay on the server should have the basis of being rooted in a tasteful and believable reality. Any kind of supernatural roleplay is prohibited unless given special permission from staff after being requested through the WildRP Support Bot.

For more information, click here. (opens Discord)

Staff Communication and Expected Conduct

All official staff communication should be directed to the WildRP Support Bot.

Player reports are filed through the Report Player feature on our website.

All community-staff communication regarding WildRP is confidential and on record. Any community member exhibiting discourteous communications with staff may be subject to disciplinary action.

Bans and Disciplinary Process

WildRP maintains an internal review board / disciplinary committee that oversees the administrative and voting process of all disciplinary evaluations. All bans and disciplinary actions are decided upon via a majority vote.

All disciplinary actions taken against community members are considered final. Individuals that are banned may appeal a ban every 30 days, up to 3 appeals per ban.

All information regarding disciplinary action is considered confidential between the offending party and the WildRP staff team. Staff will only disclose details of bans if this confidentiality is broken by the offender. These disclosures may be addressed toward the community at large of any evidence and disciplinary actions taken against the offending party.

Music Policy

Playing full recordings of any music/spoken word over in-game voice chat is not allowed. This simple ruling avoids issues with audio copyrights on a community-wide level.

Soundboards and live performances of personally created music are allowed to be shared over in-game voice chat.

Live covers of songs are allowed as long as lyrics and songs are time period-appropriate.

Characters, Life & Death

Character Policy

All characters created on the server must be portrayed with a minimum age of 18, this is non-negotiable.

Characters may have children as a part of their character backstory, but storyline and roleplay focus must be elsewhere. Anyone below the age of 18 should not appear beyond a brief mention/reminder of their existence for backstory.

No character is allowed to have a backstory involving harm to children or domestic abuse to themselves or others. Backstories involving abandonment, including child abandonment, are permissible.

Active pregnancy roleplay is not allowed. Pregnancy storylines should only occur out of the Crossing, while a character is benched or on a leave, and any pregnant character will be expected to not be played on the server at all for a minimum of four months. Any children born of such a pregnancy would be living outside of the Crossing, entirely off-screen, permanently non-playable, and should not be involved in any active roleplay on the server beyond brief mentions of their existence out of state. We ask players exploring this type of story to be abundantly cautious of the impact this subject can have on other players and handle it with due respect.

Characters and backstory storylines must age in line with the server timeline. The rapid aging of characters or backstory storylines in an unbelievable manner is not allowed.

New characters may not be related in any way to any characters on the server you have already played. Relatives of other player's characters are allowed, but you may not be connected to your own characters via family history or story. Alternative or new characters should have no prior knowledge of your own existing or previous characters.

Recreating a character you have played on the server already is prohibited if your character meets any of the following criteria:

  • Your character has interacted with other characters
  • Your character has been involved in any criminal activity whatsoever, whether or not they were suspected to be or identified as being a part of that crime
  • Your character has an existing citizen file

Each character can only have ONE citizen file with fingerprints. If a character already has prints on file, they are allowed to give fake names or aliases up until the law attempts to fingerprint them a second time. At this point the character MUST give the name that was connected to their original citizen file. You may request the law update the name or other information attached to your citizen file, but allowing the law to fingerprint you a second time would be considered a rule break.

For more information on character creation, click here. (opens Discord)

Names Policy

Character names, gang names, and names for organizations in WildRP should be authentic and your own unique creation. Using exactly replicated character names or group names from already existing movies, novels, television shows, or other pop culture and history references are prohibited. This includes any name that directly references the RDR2 game story. Red Dead gangs cannot be replicated on-server, and any surname that is used to imply ownership of a location or portion of the map is strictly forbidden.

For more information on names, click here. (opens Discord)

For more information on our ownership policy, click here. (opens Discord)

Dueling Policy

A duel is an agreement between two individuals to hold a pre-arranged shootout or fight, with strict rules of engagement, typically to settle a dispute.

All duels should result in permanent character death or permanent serious injury for the losing side.

For more information on duels, click here. (opens Discord)

Downed, Unconscious, and Permadeath Policy

When players are injured and knocked to the ground, they may choose to adopt one of the following states:

A "downed" player is a player that is injured and on the ground, but still able to communicate vocally. Players in this state can choose to have complete memory of everything that occurs to them during the downed state.

An "unconscious" player is a player that is injured and only communicates via /me medical status updates. Players in this state will need to communicate their current state of consciousness via /me prior to vocal communication. Unconscious players do not remember what happens to them while they are unconscious.

A "dead" player is a player that is injured and on the ground and has utilized the /perma command. Once used, the character cannot be revived and is no longer able to use voice chat.

Players are not allowed to attempt to force another character to go unconscious, regain consciousness, or die. It must be the sole decision of the person playing the character who was injured and knocked to the ground. Both parties should utilize common sense when deciding their state / expectation of their victims' state.

For more information on these states, click here. (opens Discord)

After you have been downed, you may utilize the “Cry for Help” or “Recover at Shelter” mechanics once their respective timers have been completed.

For more information on using these mechanics, click here. (opens Discord)

Forced Death/Injury

Players are not allowed to force other players to permanently kill or injure their character. Injury locations as well as the gravity of said injury are up to the player receiving the injury. You may also not torture or permanently maim a character without the player’s OOC consent. All injuries must be recoverable if the player chooses to do so. Injuries should be left open-ended whenever possible.

Executions via the SCSD/Sisika for criminals are requested via the support bot. Once agreed upon, this decision cannot be reversed, and the character will be scheduled for execution. These characters cannot be broken out without explicit staff approval and a plan for how they will be recaptured so their execution may be carried out.

For more information on forced death/injury RP, click here. (opens Discord)

Value of Life

At all times on the server, you must value your life and the lives of others. Characters should act according to their personality and mannerisms when faced with a threat to their life. Characters are expected to preserve their own life and limit the damage done to other's lives.

For more information on valuing life, click here. (opens Discord)

Common sense should be utilized when following this policy and will be utilized while enforcing it. Failure to abide by this policy may result in a ban.

Roleplay Standards

Out of Character (OOC)

You must stay in character at all times while on the server. There is no in-game OOC chat, all required OOC communication should happen via Discord or other communication methods. Ignoring roleplay interactions and not interacting with others on the server is considered breaking character and "fail RP". Failure to stay in character may result in a staff evaluation and possible disciplinary action.

Random Deathmatch (RDM)

Random Deathmatch consists of any intentional aggressive action against a player or NPC (Non-Player Character) that is initiated without a verbal interaction and roleplay build-up beforehand.

For more information on RDM, click here. (opens Discord)

Shootout Policy

Shooting on sight is not allowed. There must be some form of vocal roleplay by all parties/groups engaging in a shootout prior to a gun being shot at someone, there are no exceptions to this, including any ambush scenarios.

For more information on conducting shootouts, click here. (opens Discord)

Meta-Gaming

Meta-gaming is using external factors, information, or knowledge your character would not be able to obtain through normal in-character means. This includes, but is not limited to, information gained through live streams, videos, and OOC text channels both in Discord and in-game. Meta-gaming, including watching streams or participating in chats/conversations discussing current roleplay while on the server, is prohibited and will result in a staff evaluation and possible disciplinary action.

For more information on meta-gaming, click here. (opens Discord)

Ropes Policy

Due to how ropes work in the game, lassos and hogties are extremely powerful tools that are difficult to avoid when utilized by a skilled player. Hogtying and lassoing are acts that end another player’s chances of fighting back, escaping a situation, or being able to move around willingly. Ropes and hogties usage should be treated and used with care. They should be used as a last and final option instead of an initial or starting action.

Cutting a lasso after being roped is not allowed. If you escape, it must be without the use of a knife.

Groups & Conflict

Group Size Limits

Criminal

Criminals may meet in groups larger than 6, but should not wander the map or participate in firefights/melees in groups larger than 6 under any circumstances. A maximum of 6 members per group/gang are allowed to attend an event at any given time. Any exception to these rules requires staff approval, which may be received via direct messaging the WildRP Support Bot on Discord (WildRP Support#2174).

Non-Criminal

A maximum of 6 armed members from any group of non-criminal civilians or Law are allowed to participate in a melee or firefight at one time. Non-criminal civilians or law enforcement may attend events and wander the map in groups larger than 6, but should not participate in firefights/melees in groups larger than 6 without staff approval. Approval may be received via direct messaging the WildRP Support Bot on Discord (WildRP Support#2174).

Guarma

A maximum of 4 armed members in any group of players in Guarma are allowed to participate in an event at any given time. Players who are non-criminals and not involved in conflict may wander the map in groups larger than 4, but should not participate in firefights/melees in groups larger than 4 without staff approval.

Players in active conflict and wanted criminals may meet briefly in larger groups and attend events, but should not wander the island in groups larger than 4. Criminals who are wanted by the SCSD have 24 hours after arrival to split up, after which they are not to wander the island in groups larger than 4. Under no circumstances should any players be committing crimes on Guarma, engaging in conflict or participating in firefights/melees in groups larger than 4 without staff approval.

Gang Size Rule

Gangs are limited to 10 members per gang at any given time. This counts for online and offline members.

This allows for a more fair distribution of players as well as helps to alleviate the pressure of constant numbers management.

For more information on group size rules, click here. (opens Discord)

Conflict Initiation Rule

In order to create fair and balanced conflict RP for all parties, there are a few expectations regarding when and how to initiate conflict with another player or group. This rule only applies to PvP scenarios.

Multiple groups should not initiate conflict with a single person or group for the same reason at the same time. The total number of involved characters on each side of a conflict should never exceed the gang size rule of 10, even if these characters are civilians or not associated with a gang under normal circumstances. Characters may hire an outside gang/group to respond to a conflict, but should not be initiating conflict themselves if they are doing so. Characters may also assist each other in initiating conflict as long as the total number of involved characters meets the rule of 10 (such as two smaller gangs banding together against a larger gang). It is also not allowed to purposefully seek conflict with a character or gang with the goal of inserting yourself into an existing conflict between other parties.

Groups of any makeup may defend themselves when initiated upon, but must follow the 6 armed member rule. Any characters above the 6 max should clear the area and excuse themselves from the scene.

As a note: This addresses the overall number of characters involved in a conflict, and does NOT override the 6 armed member rules, which apply to all PvP scenarios. Intentionally using allies to hunt down another group you are in conflict with is considered power-gaming and can result in disciplinary action.

For more information, click here (opens Discord)

Hostage Rules

All situations involving hostages must be completely organic with no out-of-character pre-planning. Law characters are not allowed to be taken as hostages during bank, train, or art heist robbery events, and any captive LEOs should be released prior to conducting a bank or train robbery or art heist. There should be no willing hostages and no disguised gang members during these events. Characters are allowed to trade themselves in as a hostage if there is RP backing to do so.

For more information on taking hostages, click here. (opens Discord)

Criminal Activity Rules

Jailbreaking and Escaping from Custody

Once a wanted character has been placed in a cell, any further attempts to release them will fall under this rule.

Each player may only be involved in breaking someone else out of custody every 4 days, and is considered part of the global crime cooldown. The prisoner being broken out is not affected by this cooldown. The rule covers breakout attempts from cells themselves, as well as during transports to another location such as Sisika Penitentiary. The cooldown begins when the jailbreak is initiated, regardless of the final outcome. You may not attempt to jailbreak someone with a different character during this window, or commit any other crimes that fall under the global criminal cooldown.

Bank Robbery Rules

The maximum number of criminal players that may participate in a bank robbery is 6. Any criminals not involved in the robbery should not interfere with the scene, and should leave the area if a bank robbery is occurring without their active participation.

Only 2 members of the robbery party may be outside of the bank (on a roof, waiting with horses, down the street, etc.) during a robbery. All 6 outlaws/robbers involved in a Bank Robbery must be within the town they are robbing. “Town Limits” are defined as the main cluster of buildings in a town, and characters should not be hidden in the outskirts. The gray border on the in-game map does NOT count as town limits.

Law will have the option to ask how many outlaws and hostages are involved in the robbery, and if there are any on the outside. The outlaws/robbers must answer truthfully so Law players involved know how many people are involved in the scenario.

Each Player may only rob a bank once every 4 days as part of their global criminal cooldown. This includes the person initiating the robbery and the people involved within the active robbery. You may not rob a bank or commit any other global cooldown crime with a different character during this window. Any time the bank doors are lockpicked counts as a bank robbery attempt, regardless of the final outcome.

High-Value Train Robbery Rules

Criminals may disguise themselves prior to a train robbery, but must all announce themselves as robbers once the activity begins.

Responding Law and train personnel will have the option to ask how many outlaws and hostages are involved in the robbery, and if there are any on the outside. The outlaws/robbers must answer truthfully so the Law players involved know how many people are involved in the scenario. In the event an uninvolved criminal is present on the scene because they were a passenger or for some other reason, this should be communicated to the law to avoid confusion.

Criminals may not remove the main train engineer/conductor from the train as that player character has OOC mechanics/responsibilities tied to remaining onboard.

Each Player may only rob a High Value train (the trains with safes on board) once every 4 days. This includes the person initiating the robbery and the people involved within the active robbery. You may not rob a High Value train with a different character during this window. High Value Trains are NOT considered part of the global criminal cooldown.

For more information on robbery expectations, click here. (opens Discord)

Art Heist Rules

The maximum number of criminal players that may participate in an art heist is 6. Any criminal not involved in the heist should not interfere with the scene, and should leave the area if an art heist is occurring without their active participation.

Only 2 members of the robbery party may be outside of the general area of the art gallery (on a roof, waiting with horses, down the street, etc.) during a heist. All 6 outlaws/robbers involved in an art heist must be within Saint Denis. This means no criminals should be outside the main cluster of buildings, and characters should not be hidden in the outskirts of the city. The gray border on the in-game map does NOT count as town limits.

Law will have the option to ask how many criminals are involved in the robbery, if there are any hostages, and if there are any on the outside. The criminals/robbers must answer truthfully so Law players involved know how many people are involved in the scenario.

Once the alarm has been tripped and a notification has been sent to law, criminals are not allowed to return to the art gallery once they leave the property. Attempting to steal additional art after making an initial escape is a rule break. Please note that law players are instructed to respond more harshly to art heists than other robbery scenarios as the unique carriable items are optional and not required to complete the activity.

Passenger Train Robbery Rules and the Global Crime Cooldown

The Global Crime Cooldown is a cooldown that includes three major criminal activities - bank robberies, passenger train robberies, and jailbreaks. The Art Heist and High-Value Transport Trains are NOT included in this cooldown, and HVTTs use visually distinct trains.

Each player can only complete one of these activities every 4 days, across all characters.

Additionally, passenger train robberies that are aborted prior to robbing any characters on board will not count towards the global criminal cooldown. Any characters being robbed of any items will count.

Other Policies

Property Ownership Policy

There is currently no system of property ownership on the server, and players are not allowed to make any sort of claim of ownership on any location. Due to the limited number of locations, players are expected to coexist and share properties. This is to ensure fairness for all players and encourage collaborative roleplay until a property system has been put in place. As such, no notes, details, or other indications should be used to imply possession.

For more information on how properties should be utilized on WildRP, click here. (opens Discord)

Detail System Policy

The detail system is to be utilized for information that is critical to storylines and cannot be shared via any other available gameplay or roleplay methods. Details should be utilized for things like populating a crime scene with evidence, showing signs of a struggle/mistake, or to communicate that a character was recently in the area or has gone in a specific direction.

Notes and signage should not be indicated via the detail system - please use the note system instead.

Properties should also not be burnt down, blown up, destroyed, etc. without prior staff approval.

For more information on the detail system, note system, and property damage, click here. (opens Discord)

Sisika Prison Policy

Sisika should be treated as a serious, maximum-security prison at all times. There should be no tackling or harming NPC guards. Failure to treat Sisika seriously may result in disciplinary action.

The Prison Island and Sisika Penitentiary are off-limits to non-prisoners without approval. Traveling to Sisika without Staff approval or a LEO escort is a rule break and may result in disciplinary action.

Jailbreaks and escapes from Sisika are strictly prohibited without staff approval. Approval may be received via direct messaging the WildRP Support Bot on Discord (WildRP Support#2174.)

For more information regarding Sisika such as visitation or playing a guard, click here. (opens Discord)

Guarma Policy

Players are not allowed to be forced to travel to Guarma via kidnapping. All characters traveling to Guarma must do so of their own volition.

Guarma is controlled by a militia that can extradite criminals/groups at their leisure. Crimes committed on the island do not fall under the jurisdiction of the SCSD. Members of the SCSD may travel to Guarma to apprehend criminals with approval from the militia. If necessary, the militia may also forcibly deport players back to Saint's Crossing.

Corruption Policy

All characters in government roles are not allowed to participate in major corruption without prior staff approval. For information as to what constitutes major corruption for your role, please consult your role-specific handbook.

Alternative Organization Policy

Service roles are vital for server balance and are protected. No groups or organizations should be formed that directly compete with, or are functional alternatives to official departments on the server. This includes (but is not limited to) medical, ranger, law, and other official government roles on the server. Any exception must be requested via the support bot.

Law Provocation Policy

Purposefully provoking LEOs or drawing attention to yourself from Law Enforcement solely with the intention of starting a violent interaction with Law Enforcement is prohibited. Combat-based interaction with LEOs should occur naturally via roleplay. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in a ban.

Impersonation Policy

Impersonation of government officials and Law Enforcement Officers is allowed. Falsification of ID documents or Law Enforcement badges is not. If a player asks an impersonator for "official identification", then impersonation should not occur or cease happening. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in a ban.

In-Game Leadership Policy

Any player that is a designated leader within any in-game entity (e.g. a criminal gang, a law enforcement department, a civilian business) will have higher expectations in communication, gameplay, and rules adherence placed upon them. Staff reserves the right to impose these expectations and issue OOC guidance to in-game leaders due to the nature of server impact in-game leaders have.

Serial Killers

All serial killer characters or characters who are designed to commit multiple murders rapidly must submit for staff approval prior to committing their crimes. This includes those who target NPCs.

For more information, click here. (opens Discord)

Train Driver Policy

Do not kill the train driver NPC! Only players with the Train Conductor role may drive the train and throw the NPC driver off the wheel. During a train robbery, criminals may not remove the main train engineer/conductor from the train as that player character has OOC mechanics/responsibilities tied to remaining onboard.

SCTA Bank Access and High Value Deposit Transportation

As part of High Value Deposit Transportation, Transit officers may use their permissions to unlock an interior bank door to access a deposit point for their transports.

This access (to lock or unlock these doors) should only be used as part of High Value Deposit Transportation scenarios.

This access cannot be forced (through hostage taking, theft, threat etc) or used to otherwise gain access to these bank areas for any reason, including: to bypass into the bank for alternate bank robbery scenarios or to gain safe haven against robbery/violent scenarios.

The bank will not unlock/lock these doors unless it is entirely secure to do so.

Robbery of a High Value Deposit Transportation at any point, including from personnel, transportation or within the bank is not part of the global crime cooldown and is separate from HVT Trains.

Normal train rules (if used in part for transportation), hostage rules, and robbery rules apply.

HVDTs will not visit towns where active bank robberies are taking place and will leave the area should a bank robbery scenario begin.

The contraband storage for HVDT within transit offices is not robbable at any time, similar to weapons lockers, supply cabinets, and storage in other government department offices.
